The <\/strong>first rains in March came at just the right time, soaking the soil and promoting balanced sprouting.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spring remained cool, with cloudy days and ample moisture.  <strong>The rains in May were particularly beneficial, helping the vines grow vigorously and without stress.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite a few isolated hailstorms\u2014such as the one <strong>on May 10\u2014<\/strong>our vineyards did not suffer significant damage. Overall, it was a <strong>favorable<\/strong> year <strong>for the vineyard<\/strong>, allowing the vines to develop steadily and in a balanced manner. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-21-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Monastrell from the Estrecho de Mar&#xED;n, south of Jumilla\" class=\"wp-image-5803\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-21-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-21-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-21.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>July brought milder temperatures than in previous years,<\/strong> along with a significant daily temperature range. Everything pointed to a later harvest, perhaps in early September. But summer had other plans.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In early August, an intense heat wave set in and lasted for more than two weeks, with <\/strong>temperatures exceeding 40\u202f\u00b0C for several consecutive days. This sudden rise in temperature <strong>accelerated the ripening process, and the grapes began to concentrate and lose weight<\/strong> \u2014a clear sign that we couldn\u2019t wait any longer. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-15-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Monastrell Grape Harvest at Vi&#xF1;a Elena, Jumilla\" class=\"wp-image-5793\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-15-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-15-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-15.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faced with this situation, we made a quick and decisive decision: to bring forward the harvest to preserve the wine\u2019s freshness and balance. We began harvesting <strong>Monastrell grapes<\/strong> in the <strong>Estrecho de Mar\u00edn Valley<\/strong>, in the <strong>southern part of the Jumilla DOP<\/strong>, on <strong>August 20<\/strong>, and finished all the plots on Friday <strong>, August 29<\/strong> \u2014the <strong>earliest Monastrell harvest ever recorded at Vi\u00f1a Elena<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The harvest itself went smoothly.  <strong>The grapes arrived at the winery in excellent condition, showing full ripeness and good concentration.<\/strong>  Total production remained similar to the previous year&#8217;s, with very low yields\u2014around 2,000 kg\/ha on average. Many of these grapes come from our <strong>organic vineyards in Jumilla<\/strong>, where sustainable management fosters an authentic expression of <strong>the Mediterranean terroir<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, the vineyards ended the season exhausted, with thin shoots and some plots nearly dry. But thanks to the spring rains, <strong>they regained their vigor and structure this year\u2014which allowed for proper pruning and set a hopeful tone for 2026, provided <\/strong>that the fall and next spring are <strong>favorable for the vines<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-2-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Harvest Sorting Table\" class=\"wp-image-5775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-2-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-2-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/vinaelena.com\/content-nx\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Capa-2.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Today, as the wines rest in the cellar, we perceive a clear expression of balance:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 Richer, darker fruit<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 A fuller body and a more complex structure than the 2024 vintage<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2022 A character that reflects both the intensity of summer and the calm of spring, influenced by our <strong>Mediterranean climate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>2025 vintage<\/strong> will be remembered as a year of quick and wise decisions, in which dedication in the vineyard made all the difference.
