Vineyards
Vineyards
The principal grape variety grown in our vineyards is Monastrell, which, due to the composition of the soils and the climate, is ideally located in Jumilla. This exceptional enclave enables the variety to develop its characteristic flavour and colour, which are both synonymous with quality. The vineyards are also planted with other varieties that have adapted well to the conditions in the region. We are currently in the process of recovering old Monastrell vineyards in the north of the Jumilla region, between the sierras of Cingla and Peñarubia.
Olive Groves
Olive Groves
Many of our olive groves, which are mostly planted with the Arbequina variety, were planted by Paco Pacheco. The Pacheco Family patriarch chose the plots very carefully opting to plant the trees in poor, stony soils on the slopes of the valley where they are exposed to intense sunlight. We are currently in the process of expanding our olive groves to incorporate new varieties in various areas in the valley around the bodega.
Almond Trees
Almond Trees
There are over 100 hectares planted with different varieties of almond trees that have adapted well to the region’s soils and climate: the traditional Atocha variety and other late-budding, short-growth cycle varieties such as Guara, Ferranduel and Ferrangnés. We are currently in the process of planting new varieties as well as transitioning the whole estate over to organic cultivation – a project we started in 2020.
