    La Casa de los Abuelos

La Casa de los Abuelos

The house where the Pacheco Family were raised and the old bodega have both recently been renovated to become a new wine and culinary space called La Casa de los Abuelos.

As regards architecture, we have maintained and respected what was already there – the rooms, the structure and the floor plan have all been left as they were originally. Where we have had to make changes due to administrative bureaucracy, we have tried to make the differences between the old and the new evident, without concealing or imitating, with the aim of maintaining the originality of the building in a rural setting that transports you back in time.

The house has various rooms with different capacities – 4, 8 and 12 people – and a multimedia conference room – the old dovecote – which holds around 24 to 30 people making it ideal for business events.

There is also a fully equipped kitchen where our chef prepares a variety of menus using traditional, classic Jumilla fare with a modern touch, to pair with each one of our wines.

Who is in the kitchen in our wine and culinary space?

Ana Jose García

Ana Jose García

Although she trained as a civil engineer, she always had an itch for cooking and combined work with various hospitality and cookery courses until, in one of the many economic crises that Spain has lived through, she decided to hang up her hardhat, put her boots away and turn her hobby into her profession.

She began to study hospitality and to work in the sector, trained as an instructor and gave her first cookery classes in order to devote herself fully to her chosen career.

Her curiosity is limitless, and in her eagerness to grow when she heard that Viña Elena was creating a culinary space she turned up on the doorstep. Ana Jose is capable of transmitting the essence of the Pacheco Family in flavours through traditional fare with a modern touch.

Ana Jose bursts with enthusiasm despite the huge responsibility we have given her as guardian of our family recipes, the traditional fare of our region and the traditional products from the town, to which she adds her own special touch – the result of her experience and passion.

That’s why we hope she will conquer your palate the way she conquered our heart.
